The problem

A recipe tells you what. Not why.

Most people who own a shaker have made a bad drink from a good recipe. The measures were right and the result was still thin, warm or too sweet, because a recipe cannot show you the grip, the ice, the count or the balance. That is technique, and nobody has an evening free to be taught it.

  • Too many recipes, no method

A thousand drinks, and no way to tell which twelve are worth knowing or how they relate to each other.

  • Technique nobody shows you

How hard to shake, how long to stir, which ice and why: the part that decides the drink is the part a recipe skips.

  • Guesswork at the shelf

Which six bottles to buy first, and what to make with them, is the question every home bar starts with.

How it works

Five minutes, one drink, tonight.

Each lesson is a short video with a presenter who shows the technique, a quiz that checks it stuck, and one drink you can make when it ends.

  1. Watch a five-minute lesson

A presenter walks you through one technique or one classic, with measures in ml and oz and the reason behind each step.

  2. Answer a few questions

A short quiz at the end checks that you could do it, not just repeat it. Miss one and the lesson tells you why.

  3. Make the drink

Every lesson ends with something you can make or do tonight, from the bottles you already have.

  4. Keep going, track by track

Lessons run in order inside a track, and you can start any track that interests you. Progress follows you between your phone and your computer.

Questions

Before you ask

Do I need a full bar to start?
No. The first tracks are built around a shaker, a jigger, a strainer and a handful of bottles, and one of them is about which six bottles to buy first. Every lesson gives measures in ml and oz and says what to swap if you are missing something.
How long is a lesson?
About five minutes. A track is five lessons, so you can finish one in under half an hour, spread over as many evenings as you like.
Is this for home or for working bartenders?
Both. The early areas cover tools, spirits, technique and the classics for anyone; the later ones cover hosting, menus and the bar as a job, including responsible service.
What is free and what is Premium?
The tracks marked free on the program are free in full, with no card. Premium unlocks every track in every area, by the month or the year.
Can I set it up for my bar team?
Yes. A team plan is priced per seat and billed yearly. Whoever sets it up gets an invite link to share; each person opens it and gets Premium on their own account.
Where does it run?
On the web at app.mixologix.app and in the Mixologix app, with one account and the same progress on both.
Is there anything about drinking responsibly?
Yes, throughout. Lessons give responsible-service and safe-drinking cues where they matter, and one track is entirely about responsible service. Mixologix is for adults of legal drinking age.
